ANDROID AND THE EMERGING WORLD OF SMARTPHONES
INTRODUCTION TO SMART PHONES:
A smart phone is mobile phone with advance processing ability and connectivity than basic parent phones. Smart phones include the feature of a phone with those of another popular device, such as a digital help , media player, digital camera, may or may not include GPS navigation system. Latest smart phones include all those along with the features of a touchscreen system, including , internet browsing over Wi-Fi, 3rd-party applications, motion sensing , mobile payments and 3G.INTRODUCTION TO ANDROID:
Android is a mobile operating system software (OS) which base on Linux kernel and is being built by Google. The user interface is developed by the respective companies for their smart phones, Android is design mainly for touch screen mobile technology such as smart phones and tablet PC, with special user interfaces for television devices such as (Android TV), cars (Android auto), and wrist watches (Android watches). The OS use touch input that almost/uncleanly go along with real-world actions, like swiping, tapping, pinching, and reverse pinching to control on-screen objects, and a virtual keyboard. Despite being mainly developed for touchscreen input, it also has been used in gaming devices, digitized cameras, regular PCs and other electronics.EVOLUTION IN SMART PHONES:
At first the smart phones were launched with very less abilities, it included a low resolution camera, touch screen, and some basic apps. The operating system available for these smart phones was very basic. It was developed by Google. Later on the Google released an open software toolkit which was used by all the companies to control with the OS and make their own special user interface for their smart phones. At first as the smart phones were not having very high processors so the software needed things werealso not very high, the processors available at that time were compatible with the current operation system at that time, the smart phone made up of a a medium resolution display. The apps were present for them but were not very much versatile so, so there was a need for the upgradation of smart phones which could satisfy all or needs of computing, camera, television, gaming consoles navigation and many more. So the companies started to work on building improved smart phones. As the market was growing and more research was being carried out on improving the standard of smart phones there was also the need of improving operating software.
So this way Google starting to develop improved versions of the android smart operating systems which could secret and successful up with the high performance processors and could support and play heavy duty apps also.
FUTURE OF SMARTPHONES:
In 2013, the Fair phone co. launch it first smart phone at London Design Festival to face concern regarding sourcing of materials in the manufacturing. In late 2013, QS Alpha began production of smart phone design entirely around security, and identity protection. In December 2013, world's first curved-OLED technology smart phones was introduce to retailer market with sales of the Samsung Galaxy Round and LG G Flex models.Folding OLED smart phones may be ten years away because of cost of producing. There is relative high failure rate while production of these
In 2014, Wi-Fi will continue to became the network used by smart phones. As these devices do more with data and Wi-Fi becomes more common and easier to connect , Wi-Fi First smart phones services would start to be used.
Since 2013, water and dust proofing have made their way into high end smart phones instead of specialist models with Sony Xperia Z continuing through Sony Xperia Z2 and also other manufacturers with the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Foldable OLED smart phones could be ten years away because of the cost of production. There is a relatively high failure rate when producing these screens. A little speck of dust can destroy a screen during production. Making a battery that can be fold is another problem. Samsung fully folding phones are expected around 2016 to 2017.
A clear thin layer of crystal glass can be added to small screens like watches and smart phones that make them solar powered. Smart phones could gain 15% more battery life during a typical day. The first smart phones using this technology should arrive in 2015. This screen can also work to receive Li-Fi signals and so can the smart phone camera. The cost of making screens per smart phone between $2 and $3, more cheaper than most new technology.
Upcoming future smart phones may not had a traditional battery as only source of power. Instead, they may pull energy from radio, television, cellular or Wi-Fi signals.
In early 2014, smart phones have begin to use Quad HD (2K) 2560x1440 on 5.5 inches screen with up to 534 PPI on devices such as the LG G3 . Quad HD is use in advance television/computer monitors, but 110 PPI or less on such larger displays.
Since 2013, water and dust proofing had make their way in high end smart phones instead of specialist models with the Sony Xperia Z continuing through the Sony Xperia Z2 and also from other manufacturers with the Samsung Galaxy S5.
CONCLUSION:
As the world is developing and along with them the smart phones as well, so there is a need of ore advanced smart phones so that we can do all of our daily routine work or business work on the go. Android is am emerging market and yet many fields are there which are still to be discovered. As smart phone are improving and so is the need of improving software and this industry of smart phones and android has a very bright future.
